Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a technique whereby anyone can be guided into an altered state of consciousness. When you are in this state, the subconscious mind can be directly addressed, without the conscious mind 'interfering' and thus suggestions can be made to the subconscious so that beneficial psychological and physical change can occur.
When you are with a professionally trained Hypnotherapist, you are completely safe – there are no harmful side effects at all.
Hypnosis can help with :
- stopping smoking (see below)
- anxiety (see separate page)
- stress
- regression (see separate page)
- pain control (see separate page)
- sleep problems
- addictions
- phobias
- exam nerves
- driving test nerves
- interview nerves
- presentation nerves
- fear of flying
- jealousy
- motivation
- social anxiety
- weight loss - either by conventional hypnotherapy or by using Gastric Band Hypnosis (Hypno-Band) (see separate page)
- and also - many other problems!
Where appropriate and where the client wishes this, hypnosis can be used in conjunction with other complementary therapies.

Stopping Smoking
One session of hypnotherapy can cure that habit for ever!
Did you know that the journal, the New Scientist said that 'Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking, according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit. Willpower, it turns out, counts for very little The results were published in the Journal of Applied Psychology....' Robert Matthew Magazine Issue 1845.
What's In a Cigarette?
There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke - here are just a few :
- Carbon monoxide
- Tar
- Acetone
- Cadmium
- Nicotine
- Arsenic
- Formaldehyde
- Shellac
- Benzene
- Cyanide
Acetone is found in nail polish remover, cadmium in batteries, arsenic is a well known poison, as is cyanide. Formaldehyde is used to preserve dead bodies. The list goes on!
Also found in cigarettes is the excrement of animals and insects, which the tobacco pickers do not clean off... Still fancy a fag?
All this, not to mention how hard it hits your pocket!
Over a fifty year period, the twenty a day smoker could have bought a small house!
Have I convinced you to give it up?!
Pain Control
It is now accepted that hypnosis can be used to considerably lessen the effects of pain on the client (more to follow).
